When You Have No Idea What You’re Doing

You can say — Hey, I’m feeling a little confused about the details of the project. Could we meet and talk through the details of this assignment, and align of next steps?”

When You Have Too Much on Your Plate

You can say — I don’t feel comfortable that I’m trying to pass off work on other people, but I’m swamped right now. If you have any extra time, would you mind helping me with the aspect in X project? I know that’s your area of expertise, and I’d appreciate your help and insight!”

When You Made a Mistake

You can say — I’m so embarrassed, but I completely messed ‘X (task)’ up, and now I need YZ done to fix it. I’m so sorry for the confusion and extra work. I appreciate your help!”

When You Need Additional Expertise or Insight

You can say — I’m working on the a project, and I’d love your expert insight on this particular area. Can we set up a time to chat and bounce some ideas off of each other? I think your input could take this project to the next level!”
